Bishop & Miller, the region’s leading independent and international auction house and valuation firm, held its Asian Art & Antiques Sale this week, which saw a very rare – Chinese celadon glazed bowl fetch £23,000 from a UK collector.
The impressive porcelain bowl (Lot 267) was a highly sought-after lot with eight phone bidders as well as substantial interest on line, all competing for the Qianlong antique from around 1745, which was in immaculate condition and very rare.
Oliver Miller, managing director of Bishop & Miller, says: “The historical six character mark on porcelain found on this bowl is the ultimate mark of quality and sophistication and this still holds true today. Pottery and porcelain from old dynasties in China hold incredible value in today’s market, as well as jewellery and art, as showcased in our latest Sale.”
This specialist Auction also featured a floral vase (320) which fetched £2,200 as well as Lot 242, two 19thCentury Chinese Qing Dynasty Canton porcelain Vases which sold for £3,000.
Oliver continues: “This Auction is a great example of the global reach we have; we’re proud to be based in Stowmarket, Suffolk but we are thrilled to offer service customers around the world. We enjoy seeing our local and national customers in the bidding room but equally it’s exciting to see bids coming in on line from around the world.”
