Bishop & Miller are delighted to be supporting St Elizabeth Hospice and Zest with a charity auction fundraiser!
On Thursday 26 September the world will literally descend on Stowmarket, when we will be offering 200 lots that have been kindly donated by global megastar Ed Sheeran.
Ed has kindly donated to the hospice a number of items including clothing, trainers, jackets and t-shirts and also ITFC shirts from his latest sponsorship deal. As part of this fundraising auction there is even some prized musical instruments from his collection that will go under the hammer.
Ed’s support to the hospice is not a new connection, with Ed having donated items to St Elizabeth Hospice in the past, which have then gone on to raise thousands and thousands of pounds for the independent Suffolk charity. The 2024 auction is set to be a similar success, with funds raised going once more to the hospice, as well as its young adult service, Zest.
The star lot of the auction is his custom painted Martin LXM acoustic guitar. This C.F. Martin & Co., Inc. LXM ‘Little Martin’ acoustic guitar has a custom paintwork to the front celebrating Ed’s show at Air Canada Centre, Toronto, on 7th/ 8th July 2017. This guitar was a gift to Ed from Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE Live), together with its Martin & Co. soft gig bag, serial no. M6250685. There is expected to be a lot of interest in this lot and we are expecting it to achieve way past its very modest estimate of £200 – £400.
If you want something owned by Ed, but your budget doesn’t quite stretch to custom painted guitars, then there are a number of other lots for the Ed Sheeran fan, from his boxed Lego set: The Hobbit – An Unexpected Journey to a collection of board games including Ipswich Monopoly – there is something in this auction for everyone!
This auction will have a worldwide reach with online bidding exclusively available through auctionet.com, so if you are not local to Stowmarket and can’t get to us on the auction day, then you can view all the lots online on the Bishop & Miller page, it’s there where you can also leave your bids or bid live on the night.
Clare Chater, Direction of Income Generation at St Elizabeth Hospice, said: “We’d like to thank Ed for his amazing generosity in donating such a fantastic series of items for the auction. It’s a truly unique opportunity for all Ed Sheeran fans!
Our thanks also go to Bishop & Miller for hosting the auction, which will raise vital funds to support our services. Annually, our hospice team supports thousands of people, throughout East & Mid Suffolk, Great Yarmouth & Waveney. We’re reliant on donations and fundraising to continue our work and every penny raised by the auction will make a difference to those under our care.”
Claire Dorman, whose husband James Dorman received care from St Elizabeth Hospice before his death aged 37, said:“There will be so many families across Suffolk grateful to Ed Sheeran for his generosity in helping to raise funds for the St Elizabeth Hospice. The hospice have never faltered in their care for my family, during my husband James’ illness and after we lost him. When James and I first started dating in 2011, we spent many hours driving around in his car listening to Ed’s + album, it was our absolute favourite. Our daughter and her friends are all now huge fans too, so it’s come full circle!
“Ed’s donation to the hospice is an incredibly kind gesture and the funds it will generate are absolutely vital in allowing the hospice to continue their important work – so please take part and place a bid!”
Oliver Miller, Managing Director of Bishop & Miller Auctioneers said: “It is very exciting to be able to host an Ed Sheeran auction on behalf of the hospice. We know how much of a global superstar he is and people genuinely love to own something from his own collection, so this auction is a great opportunity to do just that.” He continued, “We are proud to be supporting St Elizabeth Hospice and Zest once again, to be able to raise money for such a worthy cause by holding an auction is worthwhile, every bid really does count on the day so we will try and make as much money as possible. We are expecting global interest in this auction as he is so well known in all corners of the world so watch this space who knows how far his objects will travel!”
So, if you are an Ed Sheeran fan and want to own a piece of something that he has owned, then this is the place to find them. The auction takes place on Thursday 26 September 2024 starting at 7pm, with viewing in person on the day from 4pm at the Bishop & Miller Stowmarket saleroom. At the viewing we will have musical entertainment and also some drinks and nibbles – why not come along and see all the lots and soak up the Ed atmosphere!
