Carved & Cast

At Bishop & Miller, sales in this area have included carpenter-made and joined early vernacular furniture, refectory tables, panel-back armchairs, coffers, side tables, chests of drawers, back stools, joint stools and chairs, made from a variety of timbers including ash, elm, fruitwood, oak, walnut and yew.


Works of art, including treen (made from wood), early metalware (bronze, brass, copper, iron, pewter and steel), early carvings in stone such as gargoyles and plinths, as well as folk art-related items, are often sold alongside our period furniture in a curated auction that caters for both connoisseur collectors and clients wishing to recreate period interiors.
