Bishop & Miller’s Modern Art & Design department curates modern paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, ceramics, installations and furniture. We’ve valued and sold items from a wide range of modern and contemporary artists and designers spanning over 150 years of diverse artistic movements and fields of collectability.

Avant Garde

The Modern Art and Design movement has reimagined, reinterpreted, and even rejected traditional aesthetic values, fundamentally redefining style and taste. We have seen this market go from strength to strength in recent years with interest continuing to grow in impressionism, fauvism, and expressionism works of art as well as modernistic design pieces.

Our department has valued and sold everything from Art Nouveau and Art Deco to mid-century masters of post-war paintings as well as contemporary studio makers and designers. We pride ourselves on offering a plethora of enticing artworks at auction for established and new collectors keen to secure something from this dynamic and popular area of the market.
