Bishop & Miller, one of the region’s leading independent auction and valuation firms in the East of England, held its first Toy, Music and Memorabilia auction on Saturday (10 March 2018) in Stowmarket, with the total of all auction items reaching over £65,000.
Highlights included a rare Jeffries Concertina selling for over £4,000, a collection of Nirvana vinyl’s and memorabilia which fetched £15,000 and an autographed Beatles card which sold for over £3,000.The rare Victorian Concertina was sold to a UK based collector and fetched six times over its estimate price. The Nirvana collection, which included signed vinyl’s by Kurt Kobain and rare discs sold to buyers around the world including online bidders in the USA and Japan, as well as many bidders in the room.The Beatles autographed band card, signed by all four of its members from a concert in 1963 in Great Yarmouth, sold for £3,340 to a buyer in Baltimore, America; this exceeded its estimate by more than two-fold.
Other category highlights for the Toys included a Star Wars toy Storm Trooper which sold for sell £520 and a Subbuteo set which secured a purchase for from a collector for £1,200.
The Sale’s Poster category also proved very popular with bidders and attracted attention from around the globe, including buyers from New York, France, Greece, London and Spain.

We had some rare and really interesting pieces across all of the categories, which got a lot of collectors excited. I was particularly pleased to see a vast array of collectors from all over the globe bidding on the auction.”
