June’s auctions a great success! 7 Jun 2020 Auctions News

June saw a busy start to the Bishop & Miller team, after re-opening since the government lockdown. With a successful ceramics and picture auction at the start of the month, there was no let-up for the team with another two auctions taking place towards the end of the month – Mr Bishop Jewellery & Silver and the Mr Bishop Collectables auctions. Both once again were a resounding success as an online auction.

The first up was a newly introduced monthly Mr Bishop Jewellery & Silver auctions. These new regular auctions will be supporting the already much loved and successful quarterly jewellery auctions and will see lots from £10 to £5,000 be in the auction. This first auction saw over 230 lots of jewellery and silver be sold online through the saleroom and by a vast number of commission bidding. There was a range of items in this auction from a stunning 2-carat diamond ring that sold for £2,400* to a Lapis lazuli panther head necklace, with a panther head clasp that sold for £156* not to mention the silver lots such as the Pair of George III silver salts, London 1811 which attracted an auction price of £54*. Once again online bidding shone through in both auctions, with high interest and auction prices being achieved.

The second of the auctions for the end of the month saw the Mr Bishop Collectables auction which included toys, coins, military, music, postcards and stamps. The auction saw a various mix of items from lot 231 a Atom Japan tinplate motorcyclist that attracted wild bidding and reached an auction price of £156 (including buyers premium) to lot 464 an impressive collection of 1940’s to the 1960’s Sporting Autograph collection that were mainly Football which included autographs by Stanley Matthews, Stanley Mortensen, Harry Johnston to name but a few. This fascinating lot attracted an auction price of £785*.

The toys section of this auction is always popular within the sale. We saw items such as two Lego Systems Shell models, still in their original box attract an auction price of £119* – which is above what they were originally purchased for in a shop to an 8 lot collection of Corgi The Aviation Models fetching £725*.
