Bishop & Miller, the region’s leading independent and international auction house and valuation firm, has sold a selection of highly collectible books fetching £3,595, with many signed first editions, to raise valuable funds for St Elizabeth Hospice, based in Ipswich.
The Fine Art and Antiques Sale took place last Saturday (23rd June) at Bishop & Miller’s Stowmarket sale rooms.
Included in the superb collection of lots (277 to 306) was lot 277, was a signed, first edition copy of Nancy Mitford’s, “Love in a cold climate” which sold for £480. Another highlight included a signed first edition of Gerald Durrell’s, “The Overloaded Ark”, which fetched £460. Oliver Miller, managing director, said: “We’re thrilled to be supporting St Elizabeth Hospice in this way and we were pleased our customers and collectors from around the world came good to offer competitive bids on the books. The collection of books came from a single generous donation to the hospice shop in Framlingham and it’s a fascinating selection of highly collectible books.”Oliver continues: “St Elizabeth Hospice help so many families in the local area and we’re proud of our support and ongoing work with them.”
