Picture Perfect: Highlights from our Decorative Art & Design Sale 23 Sep 2018 News
Bishop & Miller, the region’s leading independent Auctioneers and Valuers, held its first specialist Decorative Art & Design Sale last weekend and the auction made an impressive £100,000, selling some fine pieces from internationally acclaimed sculptors and artists such as Carlos Mata, John Piper, Clive Madgwick and Sydney Nolan.
The new specialist Sale was full with almost 700 Lots including a stunning unique Carlos Mata bronze (Lot 147) which fetched an impressive £5,000 from a collector based in the UK and a special Leonard Squirrell painting (Lots 64) which was sold for £3,300, going to an avid collector in East Anglia.
Also included in the Sale were a collection of paintings from artist John Piper. The Piper collection sold for £8,250 in total, with his painting, “Old Church of Mynachlogddu,” selling for £2,150 alone. A piece by Clive Madgwick’s, “Low Tide at Pin Mill, Suffolk,” (Lot 578) sold to a local buyer in Suffolk for £3,400.
