Top Ranking Sale takes place in Suffolk 10 Aug 2018 News
Bishop & Miller, the international Auction House and Valuers based in Suffolk, recently held its specialist Military, Coins,
Scientific & Maritime Sale. Included in the 1,000 lots were some rare World War II memorabilia, coins, medals and scientific instruments.
As part of the Sale, a rare German Third Reich Cigar Box went under the hammer, which had the engraved signature of Hermann Göring, Adolf Hitler’s second-in-command and in charge of German air force the Lufftwaffe. This piece gained a lot of attention prior to the Sale and sold for an impressive £3,240 to a collector in the UK. World War II items, including Third Reich memorabilia are highly collectible.
Also included within this Military Auction were two Third Reich National Hunting Association miniature presentation daggers, one of which also had Göring’s engraved signature. These daggers sold to a collector for £2,160.
A superb selection of Joseph Fayers cap badges were included in the Sale and the complete collection of 500 items sold for a total of £8,400.
Amongst many highlights in Sale’s large selection of coins were a pair of James II Guinea (1686) Crowned Cruciform shields: these are very rare and not seen very often in auction and were snapped up by a collector from the UK and fetched £2,400.
A large collection of 19th Century and later dental items was also part of the Sale, which included tooth plates, false teeth, tools and moulds (lot 554) sold for £1,320 in this Sale. Medical and dental items are highly collectable, and this collection of goodies certainly didn’t disappoint.
