Bishop & Miller held its specialist Music & Memorabilia Auction recently and among many highlights was the very rare David Bowie ‘Starman’ (Lot 302) which sold for £6,000 to a collector from Belgium.
The David Bowie LP came with a letter of provenance from the vendor who was secretary to Bowie’s manager, Tony Defries, and she used it to type up the lyrics to ‘Starman’ and this special piece had been in her possession ever since 1972.
The Auction was full of vintage vinyl and music memorabilia from Rock, Pop, Punk, Jazz and many more genres. Some of the other top lots included Lot 421 which was 19th Century Head fiddle violin which came cased and with a bow, sold for £660. A Bob Dylan handbill (lot 363) from his first concert in New York on Saturday 4th November 1961 in the Carnegie Chapter Hall, sold for £288. The concert only sold 56 tickets and the handbills were distributed before the show to build up publicity.

Included in this Auction was an exclusive Ed Sheeran Collection which included over 300 personal items belonging to the singer/songwriter. One of many stand-out items from this Collection was Ed Sheeran’s bespoke made and played Martin & Co guitar sold for over £10,000 to a fan from East Anglia.
